They work in Xorg already! Try with xev, you should get the keycodes.
Just define them as the "XF86AudioPlay, XF86AudioVolumeRaise" etc.
After this you can adjust the master volume in Gnome or KDE and use XMMS plugin for XF86-hotkeys.

Thanks, realized that yesterday when I pulled the face off. I didn't know that the buttons are seperate from the vfd stuff. Very happy it works.

Thanks.

With xmodmap I think... Or change the key settings in MythTV. The knob is handled by Lirc so that's propably easier to "remap".

Knob - how does push work?

Postby Gremlin » Sat Jan 14, 2006 3:31 pm

Ok, tried xev and buttons work ok. Turning knob is also ok, via lirc.

The only thing that seems to be missing is pressing the knob. I don't see anything from lirc or xev for that.

Any ideas?

Pressing the knob works for me with Fedora 4. The event is received by Lirc 0.8.0pre2.

anyone have the file that maps these? I don't have a keyboard, etc on my mythbox so I can only run it through ssh but this doesn't seem to be able to capture anything but my laptop buttons....

also, I've got lirc-0.8.0 installed but the knob doesn't send any events?

You have Lirc 0.8.0 with imon-support? That works for my knob events.

you happen to have the lirc.conf parameters so irw recognizes the knob?

cool, I got the Knob working. Now for the keys, the problem is I need to run xev from ssh and it doesn't seem to like that even with the -display.

Does anyone have the xev output that I can copy and use?

do the front buttons use the same USB cable as the knob? I can't get xev to give me anything when I hit the buttons.
